Good Morning Students;                                                                                            Monday, March 16, 2020

Today you should start “Day 1” of your packet. If you have already started, you can continue to Day 2 if you want to. Make sure while you are reading the ELA passages to take your time, highlight and take notes as you read.

You should still continue to work on your research paper. It would be beneficial if you could finish your source sheets by the end of the week, you should only have two more to go. Feel free to move on to the graphic organizer, once you finish your source sheets. You are NOT adding any new information on the graphic organizer, you are just taking what you wrote on your source sheets and organizing them into sentences for your paragraphs.

Continue to try and log into Khan Academy and continue mastering each grade level, most students should be on 4th grade by now. This is a great opportunity to catch up if you have fallen behind. Remember you should be able to get on Khan academy through any device available. I will begin to also post some 6th grade practice assignments on Khan you can complete, as well.

And lastly, READ, READ, READ!!  This is also a wonderful opportunity to catch up on your book challenge. How many books do you think you can read during this time away from Highland? Set a goal for your self and try to accomplish it. If you do not have your challenge notebook, just write your notes on another notebook or paper, or at least keep track of what you have read on a reading log. That way, when you return, we can start discussing all the wonderful things you have read. I set a goal of 5 books for myself, I’m almost done my first, let me know what goal you set either by emailing me or leaving a comment on Google Classroom.

We will get through this new and confusing time together, I am available for any questions or concerns you may have. Hopefully we will see each other really soon, and move forward with your 6th Grade year!

Warm Regards,

Mrs. Hierholzer
